The Nunhead Art Trail

The Nunhead Art Trail is one of our favourite events in South East London - it really is a must if you are interested in art and anything creative!

The Nunhead Art Trail is an annual weekend festival showcasing the talent of local artists and craftspeople in the Nunhead community. The free event is taking place on the 28th & 29th of September 2019 between Telegraph Hill and Peckham Rye which will be buzzing with creatives, who will be opening their studios and homes to the public to showcase their work. Local cafes, pubs and spaces in Nunhead will also be opening up their doors to exhibit art, workshops and performances.

So how does it work? You can pick up a booklet with the trail map from local venues or have a look here at the online map to help guide your around the local exhibitions on a walkable art trail. On the trail map you will see numbered locations which indicate house/spaces taking part in the show, you can then check what artists will be exhibiting by checking the artist list in your booklet or here - the numbers correspond to the artist showcasing their work. So, you can either plan ahead and pick which artists you would like to visit or just go with the flow and walk around the area looking out for signs which show which house/venue is taking part (don’t worry it’s clearly sign-posted, you won’t end up wondering into a random persons house!).

You will also find free workshops down at the local pub - The Old Nuns Head, performances at the Nunhead cemetery, free pom pom making workshop from Mockingbird Makes and a 2-hour street art walking tour explaining the local areas street art murals (tickets £12).

This really is a fantastic and inspiring event celebrating the creativity of Nunhead’s community - we couldn’t recommend it more, make sure you pop down!
