Nunfest, a 1 day FREE music festival in Nunhead will be taking place on Saturday 20th April.
Local venues across Nunhead will be hosting lots of exciting music acts throughout the day, from Folk at The Waverley to Americana & bluegrass at the Man of Kent, a Cher-themed disco at the Old Nun's Head, kid's musical activities at The Green, rappers at The Pyrotechnists Arms, a band dressed as nuns and a 9-piece Afrobeat act at The Ivy House, awesome DJs at The Golden Anchor - Nunfest promises music to satisfy all tastes.
Nunfest has already booked over 40 live acts - including Bas Jan, Santana Mongoley, Ye Nuns, Lewis Barfoot, Honey Hahs, Tugboat Captain, Nunhead Community Choir, and Joss Cope. They will be announcing more over the coming weeks.
**update: funding received*
This local festival will be FREE however, in order to keep the event free (festivals are expensive to set up after all) the team behind the festival have set up a crowdfunder page to help them raise some extra cash to help with equipment, crew and also paying musicians and DJs. The event has received £2k from Southwark Council to help make this event possible but the extra funding will help with paying the artists (many of whom make music for a living).
