Peckham boasts one of the prettiest South East London parks - The Peckham Rye. It’s made up of 113 acres of recreational grassland, ornamental gardens, a serene lake, bowling green and, a stylish park cafe - The Round.

The Round, a pavilion-style cafe formerly known as The Rye Cafe underwent refurbishment this summer. The Colicci team transformed the place into a more spacious and contemporary cafe serving locally roasted single origin coffee, a range of dishes including pizza fresh from their stone oven, homemade cakes and soft scoop ice cream from their very own ice cream parlour.

It is very much a family friendly/focused cafe, popular with local parents enjoying the newly renovated Peckham Rye Adventure playground, which is adjacent to the cafe. The Round which is set in the heart of the park has transitioned into a modern dining space, with matt black furnishings, copper filament lighting and a bright turquoise tiled counter. The menu offers a wide selection of dishes to choose from and, Peckham vegans will be delighted to discover they have Seitan on their menu!

Breakfast dishes are served until midday, you can pick from egg plates like smashed avo and poached eggs (£8) or an Acai bowl topped with seasonal berries, coconut shavings, chia seeds, pecans & cacao ribs (£8.95). Or if you fancy a smoothie you can try a Sweet Spinach (£4.95) frozen spinach, banana, cashew nuts, agave syrup & almond milk or a nutritious Spirulina Booster - with a mix of green fruit & veg and coconut water (£5.95).

For lunch, you can choose from bowls like chargrilled chicken quinoa avocado (£9.95) or a vegetarian tofu (£9.95). There are a choice of sandwiches and burgers; battered fish finger sandwich served on brioche bread with rosemary salted fries and red cabbage slaw (£9.75), homemade falafel wraps (£7.00) and marinated butterfly chicken burger served on brioche bread with crispy sweet potato fries (£9.50). The Round offers a selection of hearty salads like a red rice, feta & quinoa (£10.95) or we would recommend the generously portioned southern fried Seitan superfood salad (£11.95). If you are craving pizza, you can choose from six freshly baked options like pepperoni (£9.95), funghi (£9.95) or chorizo (£12.95).

This stylish cafe with lovely views across Peckham Rye is perfect for parents who want to grab a decent coffee and a bite to eat whilst letting their kids enjoy the adventure playground. Just be aware that The Round cafe does tend to get quite busy on the weekends and after school with lots of kids & doggies but there is lots of seating inside and outside with wonderful views of Peckham Rye Park.
